Snow that previously fell on the middle parts of Sweden is now moving east, but rains continue in various parts of the country.

The cold can affect the spread of the infection, says state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell.

“The classic sunny May weather is not here yet, and it will continue to be a bit colder in the coming days,” says Linus Karlsson, a meteorologist at SMHI.

Anders Tegnell of the Public Health Agency also longs for the heat. The fact that Swedes stay indoors increases the risk of spreading infections.

– Yes, because we are inside and together, the risks are greater. If we are smaller outside, it can have a fairly significant impact on the spread of infection. We hope it is sunny. Soon, says Anders Tegnell.

The Class 1 warning issued earlier this Wednesday for Gävleborg County, Uppsala and Västmanland has now been removed, after the snowstorm over Stockholm, Uppland and Södermanland turned to rain.

– As the temperature increased during the day, the snow melted on the way. There won’t be much more snow now, but it will continue to rain in the coming days until the rain reaches further east, says Linus Karlsson.

In the rest of the country it has been sunny in several places on Wednesday.

– But now the weather is more volatile. Overall, it looks more or less the same across the country, with variable clouds, says Linus Karlsson.
