First came the snow warning and now SMHI is warning of a sudden ice slide in midday traffic.

A weather of rain and snow seems to be coming over western Sweden and the traffic situation can be difficult.

The warning applies to Saturday afternoon, when rain and snow fall on the Väner landscape. Rain can fall on cold road surfaces and then a sudden ice slide can occur.

SMHI also warns of snowy towns in Uppland on Friday.

Adjust the distance

On average, just over 100 people need to seek care at an emergency hospital every day due to Christmas traffic accidents, according to the Swedish Transport Administration. Due to the prevailing pandemic and the tense health care situation, the Swedish Transport Administration urges all road users to keep extra distance in Christmas traffic, especially when road conditions are difficult.

The general advice of the Swedish Transport Administration is: Travel only if necessary, drive carefully and be aware of other road users and keep your distance on the roads.
