Seasonal workers at the Vemdalen ski resort were fired by their employer Skistar, because they partied at one of the staff’s homes earlier this week, Aftonbladet reports.

“That we have zero tolerance for this type of violation, I find it difficult to believe that someone has failed,” writes Skistar CEO Stefan Sjöstrand in an email to the newspaper.

At least 13 employees have been laid off and had 24 hours to leave their respective homes for staff, a source told Aftonbladet. The laid-off seasonal workers lived in different staff dwellings, but partied together at night in a three-person dwelling.

– They got a real reprimand. But staff believe the situation has been misjudged and not given a chance to explain themselves, the source tells Aftonbladet.

Skistar’s CEO says the incident violates both the company’s internal rules and the general advice of the Public Health Agency, which the company has informed its employees about.

“That these young people also get together to have a party in one of our staff accommodation with 18 people (of which 5 are not SkiStar employees) in accommodation for 3 is regrettable,” Sjöstrand writes to the newspaper.
