Skåne schools that complete the course during week 52 are encouraged to complete the fall course on December 18. If you do not have the opportunity to finish the semester early, the infection control doctor recommends distance learning during the last days before vacation.
Distinguish between municipalities
In Malmö, the primary and lower secondary school administration decided on Thursday to make the decision to close their schools on December 18 instead of December 22.
– Our main strategy has been the entire pandemic that we support all our decisions in the recommendations and advice we receive from the Public Health Agency or from infection control, to be sure of doing the right thing. So it would have been strange if we didn’t do it now too, says Anders Malmquist, principal of Malmö city primary school.
But school seasons differ in Scanian municipalities, some not affected by the infection control recommendation.
– Here in Kristianstad, no problems. The fall term ends on December 18, says Ulrica Capion, communications manager for the administration of children and education.
Decision in Lomma on Friday
At Lomma, students are scheduled until December 22.
– We have not yet decided which of the two alternatives in the Skåne Region to choose. But we will follow the recommendations. We have been doing this since the pandemic began, says Mathias Persson Benndoff, director of Pilängsskolan, which has students from the fourth year and up.
Information will be given on Friday about what it will be like in Lomma.
– If it is distance learning, maybe it can be done with good quality in high school. However, it’s doubtful that it will work for younger students, says Mathias Persson Benndoff.
