For many years, Simone Friberg struggled with severe pain, but it was a long time before doctors reached a diagnosis.

It turned out that he had chronic liver disease PSC. This led to it being stopped in the bile ducts for gallstones that got stuck. In addition, he suffered from another chronic intestinal disease.

– I would eventually need a new liver. They gave her many medications and she felt quite ill. Nothing seemed to help with the tablets she received, says mother Lise-Lotte Jacobsson, 50, of Kristianstad.

The last text message to the daughter.

He clearly remembers the day in March this year when Simone went to bed with a friend.

– That same night I wrote to him and asked him how he felt. Then I wrote to her that I miss her and love her, and she replied the same. That was the last thing I wrote to him. Today I am very glad I did.

In hindsight, you have been told that Simone went to bed and did not wake up in the morning. She had died in her sleep.

The cause of death was drug intoxication and it was determined to be an accident.

On the same day, the police visited Lise-Lotte and Simone’s father, Kenth Friberg, and delivered the tragic message.

– It was a long time before I could understand that it was true. For the first few weeks, I could barely get up in the morning, says the mother.

He lost his son Tobias

Lise-Lotte Jacobsson was grieving even before Simone passed away.

Thirty years ago, she lost her son Tobias. She passed away in her womb the day before she was born, which she also spoke about on Kristianstadsbladet.

– I think about him every day. But it is not possible to compare the pain, it has been much worse this time. With Simone, it feels more like you’ve lost your entire life, it’s just begun. He would be 25 years old.

To process the grief after her daughter’s death, Lise-Lotte has seen a counselor for the past eight months. In addition, he has received great support from his family and partner.

– I miss her a lot, that’s the worst. We will never be able to sit and watch movies again. I can never hear her speak and laugh.

Live for the family

Another thing that has helped Lise-Lotte in her grief has been joining a Facebook group for parents who have lost their children.

At the same time, she wishes that more outsiders would dare to contact her even after some time has passed.

– At first, everyone writes and complains and then everyone disappears. But it’s important to stay in touch, it doesn’t have to be great. It’s a bit like everyone goes on with their lives and mine stops.

Despite the setbacks, she tries to move on and live her life. She sees no alternative.

– I have another son and a grandson who will soon be 5 years old. Simone didn’t want me to give up. I have to help my other daughter and be there for the family, she says and continues:

– You only have two options. Keep fighting or ignore everything.
