Djurgården chose to be low on the recruiting front before the season, but after a rocky start, they now choose to act.

The day after the 0-5 loss to Färjestad, the club presented an experienced new acquisition. Rhett Rakhshani has signed a contract with Djurgården for the remainder of the season.

In addition to two seasons at Frölunda, Rakhshani has also represented HV71, Växjö, Linköping and Malmö, and on the list of merits there are two golds from the Swedish Championship.

So now you are ready for your 6th SHL club.

– For those who follow SHL, Rhett really doesn’t need a closer introduction. He is and has been a top-tier player in the league for several years. He is a very skilled offensive player who poses a threat in games 5-4 and 5-5, says Djurgården sports manager Joakim Eriksson.

The economy Due to the pandemic, the situation is tense for all SHL clubs, but according to sporting director Eriksson, the costs of hiring Rhett Rakhshani are included in the budget.

– Economically, this recruitment occurs in the current situation of the covid clearly much cheaper than during a normal season.

– From a budgetary perspective, there is no cost increase in recruiting as the health insurance applied in the league saves Djurgården the salary costs of Mattias Guter (fired due to concussion) and Anton Hedman (long-term injured) when the absence is longer than 90 days.
