Hundreds of thousands of people are still waiting to get their money back for canceled trips with SAS.
In seven of the cases, it has gone so far that the Enforcement Officer now goes on to collect the debts from the airline.
– I promise, everyone will get their money back, says Freja Annamatz, SAS press manager.
A total of 107 people have approached the Enforcement Officer this year for help in collecting money for canceled SAS trips. So far, the authority has proceeded with 20 cases and in five of the cases the debt has been paid.
– We have seven cases at this time where SAS has not paid on time after hearing from us. Therefore, we will initiate an asset investigation to collect the money. If the money doesn’t come in, it could be a foreclosure issue, says Anders Fahlen Sundblad of the Enforcement Officer.
Several cases before online
But it may take a few weeks before the cases start because the authority has something else ahead of the queue. The sheriff will investigate what assets SAS has and what may have caused the debts to go unpaid. The airline bill for the seven individuals is SEK 87,417.
– When it comes to such a large company, the explanation that small debts are not paid is usually that there has been an error in the finance department, he says.
Next week, another eight cases have a deadline for payment. The sum is 69,988 SEK. SAS’s total debt to the enforcement officer currently stands at SEK 157,405.
Freja Annamatz, SAS press manager in Sweden, does not want to comment on the specific cases.
– We can look at what happened, but I can’t say more than that.

SAS promises returned
Freja Annamatz says that this year SAS has returned money to 1.3 million customers. But hundreds of thousands of people are still waiting for compensation, something Freja Annamatz regrets.
– Unfortunately, we did not meet the seven-day refund requirement. We do our best to make sure we reimburse customers who stay, he says.
What makes it take so long?
– It is an extreme situation that has arisen from so many flights canceled over a long period at the beginning of this year. We handle more than 5,000 cases a day. Cases also vary in complexity, which means that processing times for some may be longer, says Freja Annamatz.
How long can it take before the money is in the account?
– Unfortunately, I cannot give an exact time. I understand if there are many who are frustrated. We do our best and I promise that everyone who has canceled a flight and wants their money will get it, he says.
Whoever wants can also get a value check corresponding to the price of the flight. It is valid for 12 months, the check is refundable.
