The blows began to sound in the Kungsmarken area in Karlskrona as early as 7 p.m. the night before New Year’s Eve, and then lasted for several hours, according to witnesses.

Several neighbors ended up in the middle of the line of fire and a witness has told how he had to take refuge behind his balcony to avoid being hit by rockets.

– It was purely chaotic. I went downstairs to see what it looked like once, and then he ran around the youths and fired rockets toward the stairs while other youths held the doors, witness Leif says.

The riots led to police being alerted to the scene, and then fireworks were directed at them. Two policemen were hit by rockets, one of whom was seriously injured.

Later, two 18-year-old men were arrested and detained on suspicion of blue light sabotage. They have been questioned by the police and later released.

– But they are still suspicious and the investigation continues, among other things because we have film material to review. But we are still interested in the public’s observations or films, Jessica Mårtensson, an internal police officer in Karlskrona, tells SVT Nyheter Blekinge.

During the night of New Year’s Eve, two more people were taken to the police station. They were also released after being questioned, but are also suspected of blue light sabotage.

According to videos of the incident, about 20 young people were involved in the riots on Wednesday night.
