Several staff members are sick – Forshällaskolan is closing

Forshällaskolan in Uddevalla closed the intermediate stage on Tuesday after several members of the squad fell ill. But it is currently unclear if it is Covid-19 that has affected staff.

– It is a school that seems to have been badly beaten. Now we do not know if it is covid-19 but there is a big sick leave. The school has now done what was necessary under the circumstances, says infection control doctor Eva Lindhusen Lindhé.

The decision was made on Tuesday by the chairman of the children’s and education committee, Roger Ekeroos (M), in consultation with Eva Lindhusen Lindhé.

Middle school students will now receive homework on Thursdays, Fridays, and Mondays.

Peter Madsen, principal of the primary school in Uddevalla, told Bohusläningen on Wednesday afternoon that the municipality ordered tests for the crown and that the staff will be at home until a final decision is made.

– This is something I want to clarify: we do not have an extensive spread of covid-19. We apply the precautionary principle, he says.

On Tuesday, leisure activities inside the special primary school were also closed until Tuesday next week. In this activity, however, there is a confirmed corona infection among certain personnel.

– We have no further spread, but even here a precautionary measure. In free time from special school, there is a certain physical proximity in teaching in a different way and infection control wanted to reduce the risk of spreading the infection by pausing the leisure center activities for a few days, says Peter Madsen.

Are you on high sick leave from other schools?

– It looks a little different. Some have normal, some have less, and some have more. This is also how it usually looks this year, even without covid-19. It’s easy to link all illnesses to COVID-19 right now, but we’ve had schools where dozens of adults got sick and then tested negative, says the primary school principal.

In early November, the Hälle preschool in Ljungskile had to temporarily close after a third of the staff tested positive for the virus.

At the beginning of November, Uddevallagymnasieskola introduced distance education for the city’s students in the second year until November 24 at the earliest. Various classes in groups from other years have also been quarantined after illness among young people.
