“It would have the number, it would cost whatever it takes,” says Anthony Chatelein.
18 years ago, Chatelein had just returned to Sweden from the United States, where he trained as a nuclear physicist at MIT.
But unlike the United States, where most people still use so-called “pagers,” pagers, Swedes walked around with cell phones in their hands.
– I totally turned “wow!” I’ve always been fascinated by numbers and I thought it would be great to have a really good cell phone and phone number, “Anthony Chatelein told Aftonbladet.
At that time, you can call Telia and ask for a number. Chatelein, who always had a motto for number 7, sat for hours with phone operators and asked them to find a really good number.

Chatelein was not completely satisfied. But when he saw that the number with almost only zeros for sale was in the Block, he said clic.
– I thought it was even cooler and decided that after all, I would have the coolest number in Sweden, whatever it took.
He doesn’t want to reveal how much Chatelein boasted. It was a considerable sum, but “I could have paid more.”
So what’s it like then having the coolest number in Sweden? Well not quiet anyway.
– People call every day and see who has it. They think they should go to the Prime Minister or Zlatan, it’s a little cool that I only respond little.
He calls from the phone in moderation himself, but this is useful in cases where you really want someone to answer.
– You think it’s serious when you see that number on the screen.
Millions of deals dissolved
Crowds of people have tried to buy the number. Ten years ago, Chatelein was offered two million Swedish crowns, but he refused.
– In the past, I thought I would have it for the rest of my life, but it might be more suitable for someone who can make fun of it. You can write that the coolest number in Sweden is for sale, says Chatelein and laughs.
