Seven people with ties to criminal networks in Järva were arrested last week on suspicion of a serious firearms crime. Four weapons have been seized, police write on their website, in addition to ammunition, drugs and cash.

The attack is part of Portia’s effort against serious crime in the Rinkeby local police area, which was launched to end the spiral of violence that began this summer. Since then, several murders and serious crimes have been linked to a conflict between criminals in the area, according to police. In addition to last week’s crackdown, 22 people linked to the conflict have been arrested since mid-August.

“We have a good picture of the situation and we know who the people at risk are and that in many cases they are connected to criminal networks. But loyalties between them can change rapidly,” says Maria Sundström, deputy director of the local police in Rinkeby, in a press release.
