Seven-year-old murder in Myggenäs can be solved: one suspect

When the rescue service extinguished the fire at Myggenäs in Tjörn that February night just over seven and a half years ago, they discovered a body in the burned vehicle.

For seven years, the Police have carried out a homicide investigation where it is suspected that someone killed the driver, stole his cargo and ended up setting the truck on fire.

In March 2013, GT wrote that the trailer had been found at a road junction at Exportgatan in Hisingen in Gothenburg.

In addition, parts of the cargo were found at the Albatross golf course in Hisingen.

“We will try in court”

Now the case can be clarified, as there is a suspect in the case, writes P4 Väst. With international legal help, the unsolved case police group has been able to link the tracks of the seven-year-old murder and the now suspect.

– It is not easy to pursue a seven-year case, but my strong opinion is that he should come here and that we should try it in court, says Chief Prosecutor Daniel Edsbagge, to P4.

The suspect is today 27 years old and is suspected, along with one or more other people, of having assaulted the driver who was strangled to death and of having stolen the cargo that was then worth more than 200,000 Swedish crowns.

Imprisoned in another country

The suspect has yet to be heard by the Swedish police, so it is unclear how he reacts to suspicions of murder.

A European arrest warrant has been issued, but it is unclear whether the country where the man is located will extradite him to Sweden because he is already in prison.

– As he is already serving a sentence, we end up in an exceptional situation. Then it will depend on that country if they want to extradite the person while he is serving his sentence or not. It is very unusual and it is the first time I have encountered it, prosecutor Daniel Edsbagge tells P4.
