An Örebro County teacher has been fined for minor abuse since he gave up after being hit by a hard snowball thrown by a student.
The teacher, who has been an elementary school teacher for 30 years, told some sixth graders in the schoolyard when he saw that despite the school’s ban, they were hugging snowballs. Soon after, it was reduced to the back of the neck, writes Expressen.
The children involved fled, but the teacher grabbed the pitcher and pushed him to the ground.
The following week, the teacher apologized to the boy in front of his father and the school principal, but the incident still turned into a lawsuit. The district court considers it proven that the teacher grabbed the boy by the neck and pushed him to his knees. The teacher must now pay 9,200 SEK in daily fines and 800 SEK to the Crime Victims Fund, but does not have to pay damages to the child.
