The member of parliament for the Swedish Democrats in the EU, Peter Lundgren, is accused of sexual harassment, but neither he nor the applicant believe that any crime was committed.
Today, the Jönköping District Court announces its verdict.
According to the indictment, Lundgren allegedly harassed the fellow party member by throwing her onto his lap and then placing his hands under her sweater and bra and placing them on her breasts, while squeezing her with his legs and saying “give me a kiss.”
Lundgren denies the crime and says she does not remember the incident, and the woman in question said during the hearing at the Jönköping District Court that the prosecution is against her will.
– I don’t remember anything, she said according to Aftonbladet.
– I don’t feel harassed or offended. I think it’s stupid that I’m sitting here today.
Express disclosure
The incident occurred at a party in a hotel room on Nacka Strand in connection with SD’s 2018 election conference, and Expressen revealed the allegations against Lundgren just a week before the EU elections.
The newspaper had obtained a recorded telephone conversation between the applicant and Kristina Winberg, the then EU MP for SD, who discussed the incident.
Lundgren later admitted in an interview with Expressen that he had taken the woman by the breasts that night, but then backed away from the confession.
Winberg Petades
In connection with this, Kristina Winberg, SD’s fourth name on the party’s EU election list, was removed from the list and from the party.
The Swedish Democrats said that on several occasions he had displayed “reprehensible and indiscriminate behavior” towards his colleagues and staff and in “relation to the directives and wishes presented by the national organization.”
In a movie posted on the party’s YouTube account, Lundgren later discussed the incident with the affected woman. He then said that he had been “stupid” at the party and that he had been anxious about it. The woman said it was “unfortunate that he got as stupid as he got” but called it all outrageous. He has not reported the incident to the police.
I do not remember
Clips from the Expressen movie with the recorded phone conversation and SD’s YouTube movie have been used by the prosecutor in district court as evidence of Lundgren’s guilt.
In court, however, several people walked away from his earlier statements, including the plaintiff and Peter Lundgren, who said they had no recollection of the incident.
– It is strange that there has been a wave of memory loss in the courtroom, said prosecutor Maria Sterup in her guilty plea, Aftonbladet reports.
Own interest
The only witness to prove the incident during the trial was Kristina Winberg.
– I saw she was trapped under Peter’s legs. I saw that she was struggling. I saw that the bra straps were stretched. In the end, he broke free, she said according to Aftonbladet.
The defense considers that the accusation should be dismissed since the woman herself does not consider herself a victim of any crime. According to Lundgren’s lawyer, Winberg had an interest in smearing him, since according to the defense he could end up higher on the party’s EU electoral list if Lundgren, who was at the top of the list, was hit.
