Researchers are hesitant, but Helsingborg is now investing in measuring people’s body temperatures in public spaces. Now the municipality is installing sensors at the city’s central station, reports SVT Nyheter Helsingborg.
The sensors, which are so far located in two locations, provide anonymous statistics on how many people are in different temperature ranges. The information is intended to be used to facilitate the evaluation of infection control initiatives that need to be undertaken in society.
– You can assess whether you need to shut down parts of the partnership, how to deal with public events, and companies can decide when staff should work from home, says Carl Siversson, CEO of Spectronic Medical, who is behind the tool, to SVT.
The measurement is part of a project that will last two years where companies and municipalities, in collaboration with infection control doctors, will decide how the information will be used.
However, it is doubtful that the sensor data is truly representative of the population as a whole, because the commuters are younger, according to the researchers SVT spoke with.
