Labor Minister Eva Nordmark (S) balances a flexible line on the role of LO. Stock Photography.
The government continues to grapple with the question of how LO should be allowed to participate in the work on the new labor law legislation.
According to the Prime Minister, this is obvious, but the messages from the Ministry of Labor are very cautious.
On Sunday’s agenda, Stefan Löfven said it is obvious that LO should have a voice.
– When the government initiates an investigation, we will not say that one of the parties cannot comment, so it cannot happen, he said in Agenda.
The leader of the center, Annie Lööf, reacted and wrote on Twitter that it is impossible for politics to influence “a party that did not assume responsibility in the party negotiations”, referring to LO.
Investigation is designated
On Monday, a message came from the Labor Ministry that a ministerial inquiry had been appointed into how the agreement between PTK and the Confederation of Swedish Enterprises should be transferred into law. The message from the ministry also said that it considers that a reference group “should” be appointed with representatives of all the main labor market organizations, that is, also LO.
According to Stefan Löfven, everything is done in consultation with the January holidays. But according to a C source, the question of the reference group is not even discussed, much less decided. And regardless of how it turns out, the Confederation of Swedish Companies and PTK will have a completely different role and status in what’s going to happen now than LO, according to the source.
Sensitive question
In a written statement, Labor Minister Eva Nordmark is now trying to pour oil on the waves:
“The government has announced that we are now going to go ahead and make proposals in line with the agreement of the parties. The more detailed ways of how we carry out this work and with what timetable is something that the government will now discuss with C and L, but of course also with the Confederation of Swedish Companies and PTK “.
The reference group in particular, including LO, is a touchy subject:
“But it has not been decided to appoint a reference group, which organizations will be part of it in that case, nor has any other decision been taken on how the dialogue with the social partners should develop. These are questions to which we will return later”, writes. Nordmark.
In fact, he should have met with Riksdag journalists today at their request, but quickly canceled on Monday.
