– It is about creating security measures, being visible and seeking contact, says Patric Fors, press spokesman for the police.

On Friday night, several people were arrested in connection with a violent riot in Amiralsgatan and Rosengård in Malmö. Riots broke out after a Koran was burned in Rosengård and an unauthorized demonstration in Stortorget where a Koran was kicked to the ground.

Accommodation: “Burning the Koran is no excuse to destroy”

– I saw 300 people running towards the police, then the police pushed them with picket buses and then the crowd cheered up and pushed again. So it went on like this for a few hours while people threw a lot of things, says Daniel Nandigobe, who lives near the site of the riot in Amiralsgatan.

How do you feel after the events of the night?

– Many young people were cursed by the burning of the Quran, many perhaps are already excluded and cursed, so I can understand them in some way. But it is no excuse to destroy public property, says Daniel Nandigobe.
