Sebastian Samuelsson came out a minute later at the start of the hunt.

But after a great recovery, the Swede took the first victory of his career.

– I lack the words. This is something extra. It’s hard to control emotions, Samuelsson tells SVT.

Sebastian Samuelsson was on the podium at the premiere last weekend. But in Thursday’s sprint it was more difficult for the Swede, who finished in 18th place. Samuelsson was like this one minute and ten seconds behind leader Tarjei Bö at the start of the hunt.

But Samuelsson didn’t miss a single shot in the first three shooters, meaning he was involved and fought for the victory before the last shooter.

Samuelsson and Johannes Thingnes Bö entered the embankment at the same time and became a barrier for the Swede already on the first shot. But the Norwegian missed two. Furthermore, none of the hunters behind fired completely.

Samuelsson came out before the last lap of the sprint with a big lead and was able to parade home with his first career victory.

– I wish I could say I enjoyed it. They told me I was leading for 23 seconds and that doesn’t matter how long, but I was still afraid of losing it. I gave everything I could until I entered the stadium and then I felt like I was going to be able to do it, he tells SVT and continues:

– I lack the words. This is something extra. It is difficult to control emotions.

It is the men’s first World Cup victory since Björn Ferry won in 2014.
