A whole world is in mourning for the actor who for many has come to play MI6 agent James Bond on the white screen.

– All this Bond celebrity became a burden to him rather than something else, says Barbro Ehnbom, who got to know the Scottish working boy who was hiding under Bond’s costume.

It is said that he said he “hated Bond” and “wanted to kill Bond”, is that something you heard?

– I’ve never heard him say it so strongly. But it is clear that he felt he was put in too simple a compartment as an actor. He had a much broader talent, which he has shown in other films.

Barbro Ehnbom moved to New York City in the 1970s after taking time off from work as a professor at the Stockholm School of Economics.

He made a career as a manager in the pharmaceutical industry and was successful as a financial analyst on Wall Street, connecting and mingling with the celebrity elite.

Surprised elderly man in pajamas opened the door for Connery

One of the meetings, with star actor Sean Connery, turned into a deeper friendship.

– I met him when he was in a depression, you could say. She was actually humble then, but she was also a prima donna, says Barbro Ehnbom, and laughs when she remembers how she met Connery.

– I thought he was too macho. Then I ran. He followed him to the hotel and stood knocking on a door, “Barbro”, “Barbro”, he yelled and a surprised old man in pajamas opened it. He had knocked on the wrong door. That man never forgot that James Bond was knocking on his hotel door.

He previously described the drastic story during his summer talk on Swedish radio P1, 2017.

Unknown investments by Sean Connery: ‘They made a lot of money’

She says Sean Connery’s background and education were important to him.

– He never forgot his background. He often talked about how he had grown up, how poor he was, how he had no shoes.

Barbro Ehnbom also reveals that Sean Connery had a mind for business.

– He made a lot of money. He invested in medium-sized American banks in the country. It was a little different.

Their friendship has endured over the years and in recent times they have had contact by phone.

– It is sad that he left, but he had a long and exciting life. Many miss him and he loved his Scotland, says Barbro Ehnbom.
