The Gothenburg parties that have so far put their proposals for the 2021 candidacy on the table are going, unsurprisingly, on different paths:
● The ruling Alliance does not deal with the tax, but the “pandemic budget” has a zero result, despite the fact that 500 million is taken from the so-called compensation reserve.
● The Left Party, the Green Party and the Feminist Initiative unite by proposing a 40 öre tax increase and withdrawing 550 million from the reserve.
• The Social Democrats don’t care about the tax but expect a negative result of 217 million and take a couple hundred million more from city businesses than Allinsen and the red-greens.
● On Friday, it was the turn of the Swedish Democrats and their budget proposal is radically different on several levels. You reach a surplus of one billion. Neither is anything taken out of the profit compensation reserve and “only” 100 million profits from companies.
The headline about the leader of the SD group Jörgen Fogelkloo’s presentation was “The safe popular home – for a lifetime”.
– We are a conservative social party. The public sector must help people throughout life, basic security from cradle to grave. Today we have few seats, but we are a party that is here to stay. In 2022, we will establish the so-called zero-based budget in which we will fundamentally review the costs of the city of Gothenburg and what the law requires of us, Fogelklou began.
SD’s method of gathering the comparatively radically different budget is, in its description, essentially to change the existing models of socio-economic redistribution. For example, today schools with many newcomer students or parents with a low level of education receive more money than others.
– We do not believe that they assign you money because you come from another country. It feeds on what is often called low-expectation racism. Instead, we increased the base amount for everyone, then created a pot for low-income schools that can request money if they really need it.
Known issues in the SD profile include an investment in free public transportation rides for retirees, especially funds for food in senior care and free preschool during the summer weeks. The closed Gothenburg Wind Orchestra will also receive five million in the SD budget.
When it comes to savings The SD leader spoke in more general terms about “attendance traps, SFI, better procurement, mother tongue teaching, locally grown food, communicators, asylum accommodation.”
– Only in regards to the purchasing part, we hope to save 300 million. Within SFI, we saved 140 out of 179 million. We are still within the law, Fogelklou said.
He is often critical of language deficiencies among welfare employees. How does it go along with saving so much on SFI?
– Basically we believe that the SFI should be financed by the students themselves. But you shouldn’t have to go there if you work in elderly care. I think everyone should learn Swedish in regular school.
Fogelklou also said there is a lot of money to save on “men who sit in cafes and smoke during the day.” But it is not so clear how to do it more precisely.
– Of course, it is a generous expression that reacts. But we believe, for example, that there is a certain amount of savings within the diets. If people work instead, they don’t have time to scribble or mess around.
One party, the Democrats, has yet to present its budget. It happens on Tuesday.
