The rescue effort became extensive Tuesday morning after dangerous goods train cars derailed in Sävenäs. The F-9 Torpaskolan school, which is located next door, has been evacuated following a decision by the rescue service.
– The school is closed, that’s what we know at the moment. We continually receive information from the rescue service, says the school’s principal, Johan Rasmusson, at 08:15.
No decision on the school day
When the decision to evacuate was made, most of the elementary students had not yet arrived at the school.
– What had started then was morning leisure. There were some students who were evacuated in the morning when we were told, says Johan Rasmusson and continues:
– It was the smallest who came, so they went with the staff to a collection point, and from there they have been collected.
Is the entire school day canceled?
– We don’t know yet, but it depends a bit on what the rescue service tells us.
The preschool had to be evacuated
The information that has been sent to tutors and students is that they will have to wait for more information about Tuesday’s teaching.
– It is closed now due to the accident, but we report continuously during the day about the situation in the future.
The Solgläntan preschool, which is located in the area, also had to evacuate the building during the early hours of Tuesday.
