The alarm arrived at the Rescue Service at 01.58 during the night of Friday. Then it had started to burn at Köpmanholmensskolan in Örnsköldsvik.
The fire had spread to the part of the school that contains a preschool. And according to the rescue service, the preschool is completely destroyed.
– We are busy with firefighting work, but we hope it will not spread, says Håkan Wiberg, internal commander of the Rescue Service.
Suspicious of being landscaped
According to the police, findings have been found at the site that make it suspect that the fire started. The police label it arson and will block the site.
– It is a finding that has been made on the site and then we will see how the investigation progresses. Of course, a technical investigation will take place at the scene, says Johan Lindgren, an RLC officer in the police.

12 firefighters are on site to fight the fire.

Köpmanholmenskolan consists of a main building from the 1950s for grades 3-6. The preschool class up to and including year 2 is located in a separate building where there is also a student cafeteria and a swimming pool.
