Due to the pandemic situation, the Skåne Region is reorganizing efforts in the region. Starting Friday, a special health care directorate will coordinate the region’s work, Region Skåne writes in a press release. Soon, covid patients may be transferred to hospitals other than where they sought care. The number of trial periods also increases.

“We are in a very dire situation with many new covid patients in need of hospital care and a strained staffing situation. This means that we must organize ourselves so that we can make even faster and more powerful decisions, ”says regional director Alf Jönsson in the press release.
Due to the large number of patients, it should now be possible to transfer patients to hospitals other than where they seek care.
“When it is necessary to transfer patients from one hospital to another, the responsible doctor and the reception department carry out a medical evaluation so that the transport is carried out safely for the patient. I understand that it can be cause for concern in an already difficult situation, ”says Pia Lundbom, director of health and medical care, in the region’s press release.
Alf Jönsson is who made the decision on the new health management. It is introduced due to the large increase in covid patients. Health management “will coordinate the efforts of the region, cooperate with other actors, and take steps to strengthen certain important functions,” the region writes.
The region is also increasing the number of trial periods in Helsingborg and Malmö. Starting Friday, the number of times at the Bulltofta car sampling site will double. On Monday, capacity will be increased at Pixlapiren and at the water tower in Helsingborg. The number of trial periods in pharmacies will also increase.
Medical care has three levels of preparedness for emergencies. These are approved by the National Board of Health and Welfare. Gain mode is the second highest mode. The lowest is the personal mode, where a crisis management staff controls the work. Disaster mode, the highest mode, means that “backup measures” are implemented for all “important functions.” For example, cancer care may be downgraded by more urgent measures, writes the region.
