Samir and Viktor part ways.

With the latest single “Unemployed,” the unexpectedly successful duo puts collaboration on the shelf forever.

– I am training to be a runner and I want to focus one hundred percent on it, says Samir Badran in a press release.

The successful career has been plagued with public disputes, rumors of division and, at the same time, an intense friendship. But now add Samir badran, 30, and Viktor Frisk, 25, the collaboration on the shelf and the duo Samir & Viktor finally ends. This was announced by a press release from the Warner Music record company.

The duo takes the opportunity to say goodbye to their latest single, which has been rightly given the title “Unemployed.

– The song alludes with a sparkle in the eyes to the situation in which we find ourselves now, with covid-19. Many of our friends and fans have lost their jobs, and we want to give them pepper and hope with this happy holiday song. We hope everyone feels good, despite the circumstances, we know it is difficult, says Viktor Frisk in the press release.

“I thought we were a one-hit wonder”

– It has been a fantastic year with Samir & Viktor. Many people probably thought we were a “one hit wonder”, but we’ve always proven otherwise. We have released 16 singles, delivered the Swedish summer hit year after year and participated in the Melodifestivalen three times. We have been number one on Spotify three times, not many Swedish artists have. Our songs have been played over 270 million times on Spotify, which is insane. But now is the time to move on. I’m training to be a runner and I want to focus one hundred percent on that, says Samir Badran.

Samir & Viktor was created in 2014 as an unexpected collaboration between “Paradise hotel” contestant Samir Badran and fashion blogger Viktor Frisk. The debut single “Success” became an immediate hit. With the songs “Groupie” 2015, “Bada nakna” 2016 and “Shuffla” 2018, the duo competed in the Melodifestivalen and reached the all-time finals and, unlike many other Melodifestival artists, the duo also managed to follow his hits with songs out of competition, like “Saxofuckingfon”. with 42 million streams on Spotify and “Raise your hands for Sweden” with 20 million streams.

Solo music published

Both Samir Badran and Viktor Frisk have also released music on their own, but with more limited success.

Since the duo was formed, the two strong personalities have also been constantly at odds with each other.

– You worry about the little things and you take it for granted, said Samir Badran 2016.

The dispute has also taken place in front of the cameras on several occasions, including during the Melodifestivalen press conferences. Samir Badran has also suffered from burnout and during a series of concerts in the fall of 2018, disappointed fans saw the duo decimated in a solo act in which Viktor Frisk only tried to entertain the audience. The duo have been surrounded by rumors several times, but during the spring and summer the duo released two new songs. However, none of them achieved the same success as previous successes.
