S says no to research – News (Ekot)

The executive committee of the Social Democrats has supported a change in job protection and adjustment on the basis of the parties’ agreement, rather than the so-called Toijer investigation, the prime minister writes.

Labor legislation must be modernized, but it must be done to maintain the balance of power between unions and employers, according to the Prime Minister.

– He wants to build on the agreement that the Confederation of Swedish Companies and [privattjänstemannakartellen] PTK closed when they negotiated the labor law even though LO did not want to participate, says Ekot’s internal policy commentator Fredrik Furtenbach in an analysis.

– He justifies it, among other things, with the fact that there is more to change here, which is why it was agreed that employers should be obliged to develop the skills of employees. Additionally, there are fewer exceptions to the last-in, first-out principle when the employer terminates the parties’ agreement than in the research proposal, says Furtenbach.

LO is out of this, what does this mean to them?

– They are dissatisfied, but they are informed and participate in the highest body of the Social Democrats. We will listen to what they say.

Toijer’s investigation has been an important basis in the January agreement, especially for C and L, how do you think they will react?

– Liberals have said you can imagine building on the deal, but then it should be in its entirety, it shouldn’t make it any worse from their point of view. The Center has said that of course you have to listen to the agreement, but it is the research that applies, so from the Center it is a little more difficult to interpret, says Fredrik Furtenbach.
