Barbro Neuman thought he was handing over his motor home to a serious motor vehicle broker. Now the car has been sold, the broker has disappeared and she is 140,000 in debt.
Barbro Neuman, 73, was misled by RV scammers.
Her motorhome was resold without her receiving any money; instead, it has a debt of 140,000 SEK.
– I just want to see these gentlemen behind bars.
Barbro Neuman, 73, of Virserum had had her motorhome in Blocket for two weeks when the alleged scammers contacted her. They said they wanted to mediate a sale and even made a favorable offer.
– You would receive the requested amount within 30 days if they fail to sell the car. I realized that, says Barbro Neuman and continues:
– It felt good to get rid of that and not have to respond to people who come in embarrassment.

Barbro Neuman did not receive any payment once the motorhome was sold. – Then the alarm system hit too hard. It blinked red, she says.

Barbro brought his motorhome to the Berggrens Husbils Center in Lagan.
The motorhome was sold
Scammers were eager that would go fast. Therefore, Barbro went to the Berggrens Husbils Center in Lagan a few days later.
He was asked to bring the registration certificate to facilitate the deal. In addition, they asked Barbro to sign the certificate and assured that she could not be deceived because the Swedish Transport Agency would contact her before the change of ownership.
He was also asked to repay the car loan, which had a remaining debt of SEK 140,000. The motorhome itself was valued at SEK 500,000.
– It took me a while and I saw that the car had been sold. Then I would have my money. They had said that he would get his money as soon as the car was sold.
But Barbro Neuman, on the other hand, received several explanations that he could not get his money.
– The last explanation that made me very suspicious was when they said that they could not get money back because the manager of the company was in the Corona hospital. But if he waited until the last day of the month, they would make sure to get a power of attorney from him, says Barbro, adding:
– Then the alarm system hit too hard. It blinked red.
Barbro made a police report. She also knows who the new owner of the motorhome is, but it is a man who bought it in good faith, she says.
– I don’t doubt it for a second. You think it’s a terrible situation.
His hope is that the preliminary police investigation will lead to prosecution.
What do you know about your prospects for getting your money back or your motorhome?
– They are quite small. I can make a claim for damages, but then there must be a lawsuit. I have very little desire to put those who bought the car on the glue.
