Römosseskolan, which is a free confessional school with a Muslim focus, received criticism in the summer of 2019 from the Swedish School Inspectorate for boys and girls to be taught separately, mostly in sports, but also in crafts, art and Swedish. The school also had problems with the tranquility of the students.
meFfollow, Among other things, through interviews with students and an unannounced supervision decision earlier this fall, the Swedish School Inspectorate stated in a decision on Tuesday that students are no longer divided by gender and that therefore , the monitoring ends. The decision applies to grades 3-9 of the school.
Lilla Römosseskolan, with the preschool class and grades 1 and 2, has also received criticism on several points. The independent school, which is Muslim, has been criticized, among other things, for the fact that young students did not understand that it was voluntary to participate in prayers.
The Swedish School Inspectorate has subsequently assessed that the school has remedied this deficiency, in such a way that teachers remind students that prayer is voluntary.
On the other hand, the Swedish School Inspectorate stated in the spring that Lilla Römosseskolan still lacked a school library. This has now been fixed and the authority is therefore terminating the inspection. The school, in short, has been approved in every respect.
Römosseskolan is run by Föreningen Framstegsskolan. His management has been verified by the Swedish School Inspectorate in a so-called ownership and management review and received the green light. The authority wrote in its May decision that the review revealed nothing other than that the Progress School Association meets the requirements of the statutes.
