Roland Cedermark was born in 1938 in Älvros in Härjedalen and grew up in a family of violinists. During his career, he became one of Härjedalen’s most prominent artists and in 2018 he was named Härjedaling of the Year, where the jury paid attention to his special style of play and which put the landscape on the map.
After being a director in the dance band Cedermarks until 1973, he made his debut in 1976 as an accordion soloist with the album “Lady be good”. Over the years, it has sold over two million records and in 2009 was named Accordion of the Year by the Swedish National Accordion Association.

His most famous songs include “Sång till Härjedalen”, a tribute to the landscape, and “Mosippan”, which was scored by Roland Cedermark and associated with his song and musical treasure.
During the 1990s and early 2000s, several of his songs have reached the Swedish peak and he has also participated in television shows such as “Allsång på Skansen” and various coffee shows. He was also behind the vignette for the television show “100 heights” by Filip Hammar and Fredrik Wikingsson.
Bert Karlsson’s record label, Mariann Grammofon published a total of about twenty of Roland Cedermark’s records through 2005. Bert Karlsson recalls a positive person who was in full control of his target group.
– Few artists know this with repertoire, but he could. He knew exactly what he was going to record so it was very easy to work with him because we had the same idea of what worked. The basis of many successes is that you know what audience you have, and he really did, says Bert Karlsson.
They were contacted through the record store where Roland Cedermark was working at the time.
– Your records were a great success in fact, many of them sold gold. You can’t believe the accordion could work that well, but it did. Then he also sang, it was probably perfectly fine, but it is mostly through the accordion that he became famous. He managed to popularize the accordion in a unique way.
Roland Cedermark leaves behind three children with families and a brother and sister. He turned 82 years old.
