NEW YORK. It is again Robin Lehner’s advantage in the Swedish goalkeepers’ duel in the Stanley Cup play-offs.

Last night he kept his second zero in the series against Jacob Markström’s Vancouver.

– It was very nice, we needed this victory. But Markström played a good game, it’s fun to see how he has become one of the best goalkeepers in the league, Robin tells Sportbladet after the 3-0 win.

It was unclear for a while if Robin Lehner would be in the third round between Las Vegas and Vancouver. Some thought it was time to hand over the sword to veteran Marc-Andre Fleury after the 2-5 loss on Tuesday.

But the 29-year-old Swede had another chance, and it is safe to say that he took advantage of it.

He stopped the 31 shots he received and kept a clean sheet, as in the first game of the series.

– It was not an easy game, for long periods I have been unemployed and did not have much to do, so their skillful forwards have suddenly achieved good positions. But today I got a lot of shots right away and it made it easier, Robin says when we talk to him afterward.

– The team played a good game overall, it was an important victory, we needed to recover after the less successful effort last time and we really did.

As in previous games, Vancouver’s Antoine Roussel repeatedly tried to interrupt the blue and yellow Las Vegas goalie, and not Robin.

Praise Markström

– No, I don’t understand what you’re doing. I just get mad and then I play better. So he only destroys for his own team, he says with a malicious sigh.

On the other side of the ice, compatriot Jacob Markström was forced to concede three goals, but he also stopped 31 shots and accounted for a whole series of outstanding saves. You can tell he kept the Canucks in the game, especially in the second period.

– Yes, he made a very good combination, praises Robin.

– Once the matches start, I don’t think about who is on the other side, but of course it’s fun that we meet. Markström has been here in North America for a long time and has finally become one of the best goalkeepers in the league. It is fun to watch.

The teams will meet again next time and then Vancouver will have to find a way to replicate, otherwise they will end up at a very difficult 1-3 deficit.

It looks like the New York Islanders are crushing the Philadelphia Flyers.

Although the Flyers took the lead for a good first period in Game 3 of the night, then the Long Island team took over completely and eventually won 3-1.

– We just stopped playing. I do not know why. Our best players must definitely be better, says coach Alain Vigneault.

His colleague Barry Trots is more satisfied.

– Whatever is thrown at us, we do not give up, he says.

The Flyers and the Islanders also meet again on Sunday and then it is the Islanders who can get into an attacking position.
