A man in his 30s was badly stabbed in Alby, south of Stockholm, on Tuesday night.
He was found outside by a police patrol that passed by.
The man was found around 11 p.m. near a preschool without the police being called an alarm.
– Found a patrol in the area. He was awake and talkative, but he was seriously injured. He has been stabbed multiple times, says Daniel Johansson, an officer with the regional police command center.

The police have cordoned off a large area and there are technicians on site.
– We have obtained some findings and we have a great police resource involved, which includes dog patrols and helicopters.
Initially a preliminary investigation for aggravated robbery was initiated. Later in the evening, the police announced that the crime was classified as extremely serious assault.
– It’s a fairly new criminal classification that involves violence that can be life-threatening, says Daniel Johansson.
The initial suspicion that the assault occurred in a robbery has been canceled.
– Yes, we can forget it. The plaintiff first thought that he had lost his belongings.
The police have questioned witnesses in Alby, but it is unclear if anyone has seen the crime itself.
– We also check surveillance cameras. There are quite a few in the area.
