In a week, the right to compensation will cease for people in certain risk groups who cannot work from home, at the same time that the corona pandemic seems to be able to accelerate again. Now, however, SVT can say that the compensation will be extended.
The decision was made at the government meeting on Thursday and means that support will continue until December 31, 2020. It is based on an agreement between the ruling parties, the Center Party and the Liberals.
– The situation in the country is such that we need a continuation of this compensation to protect risk groups, says the Minister of Social Security, Ardalan Shekarabi (S) to SVT.
Expand the compensation group
It also clarifies what is applied in terms of compensation for people with chronic lung disease, and makes an extension of compensation to certain relatives of people in the risk group who receive assistance compensation.
– We changed the terms and expanded the group for those who can receive compensation according to updated data from the National Board of Health and Welfare, says Ardalan Shekarabi.
The measures that are now being expanded are according to information from SVT:
- Temporary preventive parental benefit for parents with some recently seriously ill children.
- Provision of sickness for preventive purposes for certain risk groups.
- Carrier allowance for certain relatives of people in risk groups.
The term is extended
The moderates raised in March the issue of compensation for people in the risk group who cannot work from home. In June, the Riksdag decided on compensation from July 1 to September 30. You can request it from August 24. Compensation is a maximum of SEK 804 per day for 90 days. That limit is now changed to compensation for a maximum of 180 days, but the Riksdag must first approve the changes.
Currently, the government does not expect to extend the compensation beyond the turn of the year.
