At 11:36 p.m., the police received an alarm about a powerful explosion on a staircase at Länsmangården in Hisingen in Gothenburg.
– I woke up to something that sounded like an explosion. I was very scared. Five minutes later I heard sirens and now a police helicopter, says a person who lives nearby.
“Dangerous object nearby”
The police are on the scene with several patrol cars and helicopters. During the search for the perpetrators, two police cars collided at an intersection, Aftonbladet reports. Four policemen were injured and taken to hospital, three of them by ambulance.
– A car had to be cut off. The injuries are not life-threatening, but will involve several fractures, says Johan Ljung, in the police to the newspaper.
Police are also investigating “a dangerous object” at another gate in the area. The bomb squad heads to the scene near Länsmanstorget.
– It was an explosion. We are in place with great effort. We are investigating the site of the explosion and also a dangerous object at a nearby gate, says Johan Ljung, a duty officer in the West Police Region.
– We have a dangerous object in the area that we think could explode, he says.
He says they are looking for the perpetrators and no injuries have been reported. No residents have been evacuated.
