Rescue workers in Beirut: we have found possible signs of life

A dog belonging to Chilean rescuers marked Wednesday night for movement under landslides for a building in Beirut, which collapsed in connection with the blast.

“These indications of breathing, along with rashes on thermal imaging cameras, mean there may be life there,” Eddy Bitar, a Lebanese rescuer, told Reuters.

– We hope someone can get out alive, says the city governor, Marwan Abboud.

Chilean rescuers is working with Lebanese colleagues and the Beirut Fire Brigade to get rid of the landslides. At dusk, large headlights were installed so that work could continue.

If it turns out that a person is actually alive during the landslides, the rescue work will take several hours, according to local media.

At the same time, the Lebanese army They found another four tons of ammonium nitrate near the port, the same chemical that was behind the explosion. According to the Lebanese state news agency NNA, the chemicals are handled by army engineers.

The explosion in Beirut, which devastated much of the Lebanese capital, occurred almost a month ago. Almost 200 people died and more than 6,500 were injured. At least seven people are still missing.
