It is after the documentary about the Estonian disaster and the unknown hole in the helmet that the prosecutor of the National Unit for Organized and International Crime has received a request to resume the investigation. The preliminary inquiry was closed in 1997, three years after the sinking.

– I have received the case and now I will familiarize myself with it. The request received refers to information from the recently broadcast television documentary. Therefore, I will participate in the documentary. What else should be done before deciding whether or not to resume the preliminary investigation? I am currently unable to respond, says courtroom attorney Karolina Wieslander.

Filmmaker and journalist Henrik Evertsson recently received the Grand Prize for Journalist for his documentary series “Estonia: The Finding That Changes Everything.” On the same day, Magasinet Filter attacked Evertsson. According to the magazine, the filmmaker “does not present a single verifiable post that refutes” the conclusions of the Estonian investigation.
