Police were alerted Monday night about a youth home in Vänersborg in Västra Götaland, after one person was released from two to three younger men. Employees of the accommodation were said to have been threatened, as the men declared that they had weapons.

At 19:02 the police arrived at the residence and were able to arrest three people. Then it turned out that the men were not carrying weapons. Just ten minutes later, the exempt young man, who had been hiding among the reeds of a nearby watercourse, was discovered, police report on their website.

The three detainees are now in custody. It is not yet clear what crimes they will be suspected of.

– We start with threats against an official, or illegal threats, and then we will see if we move forward with the promotion of the escape, says Stefan Gustafsson, press spokesman for the police in the West region.

The young man whoever was released is returned to the accommodation. He is currently not suspected of any crime.

The attempted liberation is one of several that have taken place recently, most recently in Gothenburg and Lund.
