The leader of the Christian Democracy party, Ebba Busch, has been criticized for participating in a larger party with about 20 people on the last weekend of September. Now Aftonbladet reveals that Ella Bohlin (KD), who is regional councilor for care development in Stockholm, also participated in the party.
As a health policy, Ella Bohlin has publicly urged residents of the Stockholm region several times over the summer to follow the Public Health Agency’s rules on social distancing. All in order not to unnecessarily overload healthcare.
Photos of the party posted on social media, however, shows that participants are not keeping their distance. Ella Bohlin tells Aftonbladet that she danced and hugged the hostess.
– The basis of my decision was how many people would be there. When I saw that it was about 20, I decided that I could participate, I was very focused on the 50 limit. But in hindsight, maybe I should have given up, Ella Bohlin tells the newspaper.
She bohlin don’t want he is interviewed on the subject but refers through the press secretary to his comments on Aftonbladet. The Regional Council for Health Care Development says in the article that the Public Health Agency’s advice to avoid larger parties also applies to itself.
– It definitely applies to me, it applies to everyone. I focused on the 50 person limit. But in hindsight, maybe I should have given up, says Ella Bohlin.
Right now, the Stockholm region is implementing new restrictions on an information campaign. “We are now seeing an increase in covid-19 throughout our region. You protect everyone you care about when: you wash your hands, hold 2 meters, hit a few, and when you stay home at the slightest symptom. “
According to the region’s health and medical director, the distance rules are clear.
– I can not comment on individuals or if the events have occurred correctly or not. But our advice is clear about keeping your distance from other people: two meters as often as possible. If this has been the case at this time, I have no knowledge of, much less who was involved, says Björn Eriksson, director of health and medical care.
Social Affairs Minister Lena Hallengren (s) comments on participation in the Christian Democracy party and believes that high-level politicians have a great additional responsibility to show good judgment.
– It’s clear that crowded house parties and wet nights are not really on the list for what to do. On the contrary, it is important to take responsibility for providing reasonable conditions to the health service and ensuring that the spread of infection is kept low. Especially if you basically have a harsh tone, I think you should think more carefully, Hallengren tells TT.
Regional Councilor for Health and Medical Care Anna Starbrink (L) does not want to comment on Ella Bohlin’s actions, but urges all Stockholm residents to follow the recommendations.
– I do not want to comment on any particular person, but I do appeal to all Stockholmers and others to keep in mind that the pandemic is among us. It is extremely important that we all take responsibility, think about keeping our distance, stay home when we are sick, and otherwise follow the recommendations. I myself always try to keep my distance and avoid situations where I run the risk of being crowded, even if it is not always the easiest, says Anna Starbrink.
The regional councilor of the social democratic opposition Aida Hadzialic also believes that all Stockholm residents must take responsibility.
– I guess everyone tries to follow the recommendations of the Swedish Public Health Agency. An ongoing pandemic prevails in Stockholm. It is important that we all take joint responsibility for stopping the spread of the infection, says Aida Hadzialic (S).
The actions of the regional council for development of care are also criticized by other politicians of care in the region.
– All citizens, political or not, should beware of large social events and help contain the spread of the infection in the ordeal Sweden is going through, says Gabriel Kroon, leader of the group of Sweden Democrats.
