Reducing covid patients by half since December

The region is now declining from reinforcement mode to staff mode, says director of health and medical care Björn Eriksson at a press conference.

350 patients are currently being treated with covid-19 at the hospital in the region. About 50 patients are enrolled in intensive care units, which is also a decrease compared to the last few weeks.

– We are still in a very serious situation, all hospitals still have an increased state of emergency and the entire health system in the Stockholm Region is prepared for the decline to be replaced by an increase in the need for medical care, says Björn Eriksson.

Several hospitals in the Stockholm area have also entered a state of emergency in recent days.

Big difference

A total of 85,500 doses of vaccine have been delivered to vaccination centers in the region and 42,000 people have received their first dose, and another 7,100 have received both doses one and two, according to vaccine coordinator Magnus Thyberg. However, he emphasizes that the numbers can be up to seven days old because registration takes time.

– If you look at the number of doses administered, there is a big difference with the number of doses administered. The longer it takes, the smaller proportion of vaccines will appear to have yet to be used, he says.

The vaccination rate is currently limited by the lack of vaccines, according to Magnus Thyberg. Many want and can vaccinate more.

Many in Säbo

About 85 percent of people in special housing (Säbo) have received their first dose of vaccine and vaccination for dose two is ongoing. In municipal health and care, 31 percent have received their first injection and 66 percent have scheduled an appointment with a vaccinator.

When vaccines continue into the next phase, all people over 70 will receive information sent home to schedule an appointment. Thyberg has no information on when the vaccines can be opened to the general public.
