A man in his 40s had his sentence reduced after a car accident on the outskirts of Boliden, where his car rolled over and he himself slipped from the crash site despite two people being injured, VK Media reports.

The accident occurred in 2017 when the man was driving too fast on an 80 highway and lost control of the vehicle. The two passengers in the car were seriously injured. The two claim that the man was driving about 200 kilometers per hour when the car went off the road and fell into a ditch.

The man was sentenced in district court to prison for two months for causing bodily injury, traffic negligence and infection at the scene of a traffic accident.

The man claims that he did not drive at all as fast as witnesses claim and word for word. Upon appeal, the Upper Norrland Court of Appeal acquitted him of the traffic negligence charge, but otherwise the Court of Appeal rules as a district court. The penalty is changed to a suspended sentence and a daily fine.
