The Court of Appeal reduces the penalty for the two drivers who caused the alleged head-on collision in Kramfors last fall.
The Court of Appeal sentences two people to community service probation after a violent head-on collision in Kramfors last fall, local media report.
In connection with the accident, caused by the so-called chicken race, where two drivers approach, several young people were injured. A girl suffered serious head injuries.
In June, the district court sentenced the drivers, who were 19 and 18 at the time, to probation with community service and SEK 60,000 for damages to the girl’s family. The verdict upset her parents, who thought the punishment was too lenient.
The Court of Appeal now rules that this is an appropriate sanction. The Court of Appeal also mitigates the punishment. Drivers’ sentences are reduced from 200 and 160 hours of community service to 180 and 140 hours, respectively, according to local media.
