The American Nascar season is, like almost all sports, until further notice. Instead, the engine series has been moved to computers where drivers participate in races that are streamed live on the Internet. It was during a race that Larson could be heard on Sunday making a racist comment when he thought his microphone was off.
A few hours later, his stable team Chip Ganassi Racing suspended him without pay, and on Monday he was deported from all of Nascar.
“Diversity is a priority for Nascar and we do not tolerate the kind of language that Kyle Larson used,” Nascar’s management writes in a statement.
On Monday, 27-year-old Larson posted a video on social media apologizing for his choice of words, but has since removed several sponsors as well.
Kyle Larson has been a top Nascar profile since he was named rookie of the year in the 2014 Sprint Cup main series.
