Qatar defeated Argentina.
Now the Denmark-Croatia match decides which team Sweden will face in the quarterfinals of the World Cup.
Qatar, Argentina or Croatia?
Yesterday Sweden was ready for the World Cup quarterfinals after the show against the Russian Federation team.
Tonight it will be clear which blues and yellows they will face: Argentina, Qatar or Croatia.
After the game between Argentina and Qatar, we still don’t know.
Many technical errors
Qatar won the swing match 26-25.
Argentina took the lead at 11-4 but the Qataris rallied after loads of penalties: 13-12 at halftime.
Argentina made a new move at the start of the second and was 19-15 before Qatar came back and took the lead at 21-20 with ten minutes to go.
The rest of the game was a thriller and a minor orgy of technical errors and the end was missed.
Croatia’s opportunity
The result means that Croatia still has a chance of reaching the quarter-finals, and that Sweden can still face one of the three teams involved.
Croatia will already face clear group winners Denmark, who also beat Mikkel Hansen and Lasse Svan, later tonight (return at 8.30pm) and this now applies:
✓ Croatia advances if they win.
✓ Qatar continues if Denmark wins.
✓ Argentina continues if the match ends in a draw.
Already yesterday it was clear that the Swedish players prefer to avoid the Croats.
– It is clear that you are happy to avoid Croatia with the names they have, said Jim Gottfridsson.
– Croatia has the best team on paper. I have to say Qatar or Argentina, that’s what everyone thinks, Lucas Pellas said.
At the same time that Argentina lost, Spain beat Hungary 36-28 and thus it is clear that Spain and Norway will meet in a quarter-final and France-Hungary in another.
