The announcement of stricter rules for public gatherings and public events was announced at a digital press conference on Monday, less than a week after the government announced that the sale of alcohol would be banned after 10 p.m.
The new restrictions It occurs after weeks of further spread of the infection in Sweden. In addition to the new laws, stricter local recommendations now apply in 20 of Sweden’s 21 regions.
The fact that the Swedes follow the recommendations worse now than in the spring means that more bans are required, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (S) said at the press conference. He explained that he understands that the public is tired of restrictions, but believes that infection control is more important than emotions.
– Do your duty, take your responsibility to stop the spread of infection, says Stefan Löfven.
The new restrictions on public gatherings are also expected to apply to restaurant appearances, as the so-called troubadour exemption will be removed, announced the Minister of Finance and Housing by Bolund (MP).
The starting point is that The new ban will apply for four weeks, but if the situation does not improve, it will be extended through Christmas and New Years.
The new restrictions are a government proposal to be issued for quick referral and are expected to be approved as early as Thursday. This means that the government cannot account for all the details, such as whether or not public events for children will be included in the restrictions.
Per Bolund stated at the press conference that this will further affect various industries, but remember that there is financial support to apply for.
The government has not ability to limit the number of people who gather at home parties and private events. The law on public gatherings also does not apply to activities such as gyms, swimming pools and shops. But the Prime Minister called the new restrictions “the new norm in society” and the government made it clear that the rules must apply throughout society.
– Do not go to the gym, library, organize dinners and parties at home. Don’t come up with avoidance that makes your activity acceptable, but keep your physical distance, Stefan Löfven said.
The private activities that Löfven listed are not covered by the new rules, as they are not counted as a public meeting or event.
