On Thursday, the Polish Constitutional Court ruled that abortions of injured fetuses were unconstitutional. Since then, massive protests have broken out in various parts of the country.
On Sunday, some protesters moved from the streets to the churches. The activists are said to have chanted outside and inside churches in the middle of Sunday mass in Warsaw, Gdansk and Poznan, among other places.
The Polish police have released a video from the northern city of Szczecinek, where young women appear to have surrounded a priest.

The police used tear gas
At the same time, in Katowice, in southern Poland, around thirty members of the right-wing Polish nationalist youth are said to have participated in the demonstration. There were clashes that caused the police to respond with tear gas to disperse the crowd.
There have also been reports from other cities of right-wing nationalists attacking protesters. At a church in Warsaw, a woman is said to have been pushed down a flight of stairs when she tried to enter the building, AP writes.
“Violates human rights”
Even before Thursday’s decision, Poland had a very strict abortion law. Last year, just over 1,000 abortions were performed in the country. 98 of them were based on the fact that the fetus was injured, which is therefore illegal with the new verdict, writes BBC.
Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatovic says the new law violates human rights.
