Arvid Stenbäcken participated in the “Paradise hotel” at the same time that he received sick pay from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency after a fall accident.

He is now sentenced for eight cases of violation of benefits.

Försäkringskassan also demands the return of the almost 160,000 SEK that was paid.

It was after a fall accident in 2018 that Arvid StenbäckenThe 28-year-old received a sickness benefit from the Swedish Social Security Agency.

However, the Swedish Social Security Agency later reported Arvid Stenbäcken to the police for benefit violations, as they claimed that eight of the payments, between October 2018 and May 2019, had been paid for the wrong reasons. In total, the Swedish Social Security Agency demanded the return of SEK 159,127.

Arvid Stenbäcken was prosecuted and now the verdict has been handed down in the Gothenburg District Court.

The verdict, which gives Försäkringskassan the right, states that Arvid Stenbäcken is sentenced to a suspended sentence and a 60-day fine of SEK 50, a total of SEK 3,000, for eight cases of violation of benefits.

– I think it was a good verdict. They seem to have understood that this was not something I did with intent, he says in a comment to Aftonbladet.

He participated in various television shows.

It is clear from the judgment that Arvid Stenbäcken participated in various television productions during the time he received sick pay. He participated in the reality show “Paradise hotel” in Mexico and also in the spin-off programs “Paradise Sthlm” and “Paradise hotel – after the party”.

Therefore, it is believed that your ability to work was not affected to such an extent that you were entitled to sickness benefit during that period. It is also established that he did not inform the Swedish Social Security Agency when his work capacity improved, nor that he reported his change in income or his stay outside the EU. Something he was required to do by law.

Crime denied

Arvid Stenbäcken has denied the crime. He admitted the facts but denied responsibility, citing he had no intention or gross negligence, the verdict says. He believed that he could work while receiving sick pay, as long as he did not earn more than his regular salary, nor did he regard participation in television productions as a regular job.

– I have admitted that I was wrong and that I should have informed the Swedish Social Security Agency, but it is not something that I did not intentionally do. I have not had any plans to cheat the system, he previously told Aftonbladet.

Arvid Stenbäcken has been on several seasons of “Paradise hotel”, most recently in the current season now airing on Viafree / Viaplay, and he has also previously participated in Dplay’s reality show “Ex on the beach”.
