Last week, a person in Luleå alerted the home help service eight times over an hour and a half. When the alarm hit the night patrol five hours later, the person was dead.
The problems started after vendor Tunstall upgraded its alarm platform. The upgrade created a heavy burden on the provider’s operators and resulted in long response times, leading to many in need of help waiting hours for assistance. According to the company, the problems are already solved.
Several of the affected municipalities have chosen to report the problems to the Swedish Civil Contingency Agency (MSB) and the Swedish Health and Care Inspectorate (Ivo).
Some municipalities are also considering changing security alarm providers.
– This is so extensive that it is clear that it damages our trust in the supplier. We will have discussions about whether we should change providers, says Camilla Andersson Larsson, unit manager for home care service in Ljusnarsberg municipality, at P4 Örebro.
