The prison guard says good night to a prisoner from Norrtäljeanstalten.
Then he pressed a pistol ladder against her, something that became the beginning of a nearly five-hour negotiation.
“I don’t want to hurt you, but I want you to open the door,” said the prisoner.
The drama took place in April in Norrtäljeanstalten.
At 6:45 p.m., a prison guard locked all the prisoners in their cells.
The routine operation ended in a five-hour police operation with the picket force and negotiators.
The probation officer says he “opens the door, says good night and then closes the door” to a 44-year-old inmate.
The moment she closed the door, just before she had time to close it, the 44-year-old opened the door and took a step outside.
At the same time, they gave him a gun-like object pointed at him.
– Do what I tell you now, the woman should have said.

“The estuary headed straight for me”
With the pistol ladder pointed at her back, he led her to the exit.
The probation officer managed to activate the assault alarm, after which reinforcements rushed into the room.
– Yells the suspect. I perceive it as if he wanted to take NN hostage, says a colleague who came to the scene.
When they reached the door leading out of the room, the prison guard had time to act. She “quickly grabbed the door and shut it,” it says in the investigation.
But the prisoner managed to put half of his body in and prevent the staff from closing the door.
– I saw that three or four members of the staff tried to close the door. Someone yelled “he has a gun,” I started looking for it and saw the mouth pointed directly at me, says another colleague who went to the department.
– NN (prisoner) was strong and tried to push the door open, but I had decided not to give in and let him out.

“No bulletproof glass”
In the end, the prison staff was able to close the door.
– Then he points at us through the glass window of the door with the gun he is holding in his right hand and wants us to open the door. Scream we’ll let him out. He says that it is not the three he wants to hurt.
– We tried to keep an eye on it, it’s not bulletproof glass.
But the 44-year-old prisoner did not abandon the escape attempt.
– What I want is for you to stop the illegal detention of me, I should have screamed, among other things.
He covered the surveillance cameras and barricaded himself in the kitchen, blocking the door with a broomstick and kitchen carts.
– The police will shoot you if you don’t give up, one of the prison mates yelled at the 44-year-old man.
After several hours, at 11:23 pm, the police negotiators decided to break in. Police threw diversion grenades and were later able to arrest the man.

Using melted plastic cutlery, he made the muzzle for the entry gun.
Letter bomb and dust
The 44-year-old is serving an eight-year prison sentence. He was convicted in the winter of 2019 of a large number of manifestly illegal threats after sending gunpowder letters and death threats to various public figures. He also sent a letter bomb and was found guilty of attempted murder in the same case.
After the escape attempt this spring, he is now accused of a serious threat against an official. At the beginning of last winter, he also attacked a prison guard and is therefore also suspected of violence against an official.
During the police questioning, he did not want to speak or tell how he reacts to the suspicions.
The investigation showed that the pistol doll was made of paper, cardboard, clay, toothpaste, flour or soap. Also, the plastic cutlery had been melted to make details like triggers and mouths. Then it had been painted black with ink and charcoal.
The trial will begin in November.
