“The goal is for the electric aircraft to be certified in 2025-2026 and therefore the flight will be completely fossil-free over shorter distances,” writes the Heart Aerospace company on its website about the aircraft whose electric transmission line showed up on Wednesday.
The plane will have space for 19 passengers and can fly up to 400 kilometers according to the company.
When the powertrain was unveiled, Prince Daniel and Tomas Eneroth, S, Sweden’s Minister of Infrastructure, participated.
– We are extremely happy and proud that the royal house and government of Sweden are present today when we present the powertrain. We want to show where we are in the development of our first Swedish electric aircraft for passenger traffic. Hopefully it will create greater understanding and political will to invest in Swedish electric aviation, says Anders Forslund, CEO of Heart Aerospace, in a press release.
Investment in electric aircraft
Marcus Dahlsten, CEO of the Transportföretagen industry association, was also present during the presentation.
– Sweden has high sustainability ambitions and the opportunity to become a world leader in fossil-free aviation. Government investment in aviation research and electrification is an important part of the preconditions for Swedish national aviation to become fossil-free by 2030, Dahlsten says in the press release.
The planet is called Heart ES-19.
