According to the latest figures, 208,295 people have been infected with covid-19 in Sweden and several regions now fear a situation similar to that of the spring, when thousands of people died after being infected by the new coronavirus. That is why the Prime Minister is giving a speech to the nation today.

– Sweden is under severe scrutiny and will get worse. I want to urge the Swedish people to do their duty to reduce the spread of the infection. Together, we can reverse the trend, says Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (S) in a press release before the speech.

The prime minister also delivered a speech to the nation this spring, but other than that, it has only happened on two previous occasions, according to SVT.
