Luleå Hockey made a steady effort in the SHL home debut against Färjestad. Norrbotten won 4-2.
Luleå Hockey felt quite connected from the beginning and Norrbottningar also took over the game quite immediately. In the fourth minute of the game, Erik Gustafsson managed to prevent Färjestad from clearing the puck from his own zone and the home team kept the press in the attack zone. The puck eventually found its way through Linus Klasen and Juhani Tyrväinen to the new Victor Berglund hill, who scored his first SHL goal and the 1-0 for Luleå Hockey. At the end of the period, in the five-on-four game, Nils Lundkvist sent a powerful shot that the FBK goalkeeper couldn’t catch and Niklas Olausson made it 2-0.
The home team was still in the driver’s seat in the interim period and already after 01:46 it was time again. Petter Emanuelsson made it 3-0, in power play, with a strong direct shot from Victor Berglund and Isak Brännström. Two points in Victor Berglund’s SHL debut.
In the third half, the guests played up and after just under nine minutes played, Färjestad’s reduction came. With five minutes to go, the Värmlands made real contact when they fell another reduction, to 3-2. Värmlänningarna bet everything on one card when, with three minutes remaining, the goalkeeper was selected, but Karl Fabricius was able to send the 4-2 from his own zone. Three points at the premiere of Luleå Hockey.
