Postnord is taking steps to cope with the enormous pressure of e-commerce, while reducing the risk of the infection spreading. One of the solutions will be to open the largest parcel agent in the world, where the Stockholm Fair in Älvsjö will be a drive-thru agent, where customers will be able to receive their parcel directly in the car.
In this pandemic, Postnord wants to do everything possible to prevent further spread of the infection during an intensive period in which record volumes of package deliveries are expected. With the huge space that Stockholmsmässan offers, we are able to receive and store a large number of packages and at the same time offer our customers secure package pickup and return presentation, says Mathias Olsson, Head of the PostNord Agent Network, it’s a statement.
Starting today, Stockholm Fair Thru will be available as an optional alternative at the checkouts of various electronic retailers. And on November 30, the huge temporary ombudsman opens to the public.
We have had to restructure our operations this year and this collaboration is an example. This also shows the completely unique ability of the Stockholm Fair to change quickly. We presented the idea to Postnord and we are happy to have quickly won this opportunity together, says Rikard Skärebo, production manager at the Stockholm Fair in Älvsjö.
“We change quickly”
The Drive Thru representative in Älvsjö will be open until 23 December. Postnord is now looking for more alternative agents and digital solutions to further reduce congestion in other parts of Sweden.
Now we are adapting as quickly as possible to find solutions that can help our customers to collect their packages in the safest way possible. The collaboration with the Stockholm Fair took shape very quickly and we are now investigating other possibilities to open more new solutions and agents in various parts of the country, says Mathias Olsson.
